Review Start11: Restore the Windows 7 Start Menu in Windows 11

Switched to Windows 11, but can’t get used to the new Start Menu? The makers of Stardock faced the same problem and developed Start11. The goal of the program is simple: to enable the user to bring the classic Windows 7 Start menu back into Windows 11 (as well as Windows 10).

First of all, you can use the program to align the Start menu on the far left of the screen, as you are used to from previous Windows versions. You can also customize the appearance. This way you can bring it back to the state at the time of Windows 7, but also further adjust the look and feel. Start11 supports a dark mode and lets you customize the appearance of the menus based on themes. We find the same flexibility with the Windows taskbar. You can also provide this with your own color and texture (skin), to give the bar its own look. The makers have adapted the operation to the settings window of Windows 11, so that you can find your way around the environment relatively easily.

A trial version of the software is not available. At the time of writing, the makers have released a beta version, for which you pay approximately six euros. The quality is okay, but if you want to be sure, try the 30-day trial first.
