Plug-in hydrogen car
The American start-up Revo Zero wants to put an end to the debate between plug-in cars versus hydrogen cars. At least, that’s what it seems like when we see what it’s up to. It comes with three models that can be connected to the plug and the hydrogen pump.
Electric driving with a fuel cell can be attractive because you can continue driving in no time, but at the same time the availability of hydrogen is often still a problem. Passenger cars with fuel cells are not really catching on yet, as Toyota also discovered. So why not use the battery if you want to drive electric? Well, when it comes to the young and relatively unknown Revo Zero, you simply combine those two things. That brand comes with three models with a fuel cell and a battery on board.
The first model is the already extensively shown Energy, an SUV that is somewhat unfortunately called Revo Zero Energy in full. The Energy is 5.08 meters long and can accommodate six people. We don’t hear much else about it yet, but perhaps the most important thing is the estimated driving range. According to Revo Zero, this amounts to no less than 1,120 km, but it is not yet reported which part of this is made possible by the battery and which part by the fuel cell. The Revo Zero can already be reserved for 500 dollars, although it is not yet known approximately how much the car will ultimately cost. You can already hear it, there are still many uncertainties surrounding this new brand, which has not yet been fully explained.
In any case, what is already clear is that Revo Zero has greater ambitions. There are two more models in the pipeline with the same mix of a fuel cell and a battery. There is the Electron pictured above, a 4.3 meter long convertible with a driving range of 430 km. So it probably doesn’t contain a very large battery pack, which may be beneficial for the weight. Finally, there is the Ride, a hatchback with suicide doors. Nothing further is known about this yet. If you are charmed by plug-in hydrogen cars, but do not want to seek refuge in such a start-up, then wait for the possible arrival of the new Honda CR-V.
