iPhone 15 Pro: A17 Bionic chip with 6-core GPU
The new rumor is by user @URedditor posted to Twitter. Not only does it say that the iPhone 15 Pro will get 6GB of RAM, but also that the A17 Bionic chip will get a 6-core CPU and a 6-core GPU. The current A16 Bionic chip still has a 6-core CPU and a 5-core GPU. This would mean that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max get one extra GPU core.
Furthermore, according to @URedditor, the CPU of the A17 Bionic will have a maximum clock speed of 3.70 GHz. So that is an increase compared to the 3.46 GHz of the A16 Bionic chip.
iPhone 15 Pro 6GB RAM is likely
It is striking that the A17 Bionic chip is coupled to 6GB RAM, which is also the case with the A16 Bionic chip. This means that the iPhone 15 Pro will get 6GB of RAM. This contradicts previous rumors, because they still gave the iPhone 15 Pro 8GB of RAM. According to @URedditor, 8GB is not likely, but at the same time not impossible.
The A17 Bionic chip will most likely only be used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The ‘regular’ iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus get last year’s A16 chip, which is also used in the iPhone 14 Pro.

Since the iPhone 15 Pro gets 6GB of RAM, a higher maximum clock speed and an extra GPU core, the performance will probably improve considerably. To what extent depends on where Apple will focus. The company may opt for a longer battery life and small performance improvements. But it could also be that the battery life is kept the same, which means that the performance skyrockets further.
