Rumor: ‘Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with Snapdragon chipset’

A new rumor states that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be released worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. In the Netherlands and Belgium we have been used to the phones with Samsung’s own Exynos processor for years.

Samsung Galaxy S22 with Snapdragon

With the Galaxy S21 FE recently announced, Samsung has taken the last straight line until the launch of the S22 series. Several sources confirm that Samsung will announce its Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra on February 8. The question is currently only with which chipset the phones will come on the market.

That question has suddenly come up after it became known that Samsung has canceled a launch event for the Exynos 2200 chipset. The company would normally show its new high-end processor this week, but according to the well-known rumor spreader Ice Universe, problems at Samsung’s chip department have put a stop to that. All previous references and teasers related to the launch have also been taken offline by Samsung.

Snapdragon for the entire series?

According to new information in a tweet from the rumor propagator Achmed Qwaider, Samsung now wants to release the S22 Ultra worldwide with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. That is Qualcomm’s latest high-end chipset. For years we have been used in Europe that the Galaxy S series comes with an Exynos processor, while in other parts of the world it appeared with a Qualcomm processor. That sometimes led to criticism from disappointed Samsung users when the Exynos version performed less strongly than the Snapdragon variant.

Qwaider does not clearly state in his tweet whether the S22 Plus and the regular S22 will also come with a Snapdragon processor, but some media do report that the decision applies to all phones in the series. Qwaider does say in one of the responses that the launch of the Exynos 2200 is still planned at a later time. It is unknown when we will see the chipset and for which phones it will be used.

wild rumours

For the time being, it is about one source that brings information about the use of the Qualcomm processor and that is why we take the news with a grain of salt for the time being. There are also wild rumors about disappointing performance of the AMD GPU in the Exynos 2200, but that information really becomes more credible once multiple sources confirm it.
