Brand new earbuds from Samsung are announced every year (at least for the past three years), but that doesn’t seem to be the case this year. According to rumors, Samsung does not plan to show new Galaxy Buds during Unpacked 2022.

On February 9, Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 would be announced by the Korean tech giant, but there is no other audio line-up. We can distill that from the many leaks around the tablets and the phones, where it is eerily quiet around any earplugs. Sammobile in any case, comes to that conclusion after going through all the leaks.
It is a big break with how things normally go, because since 2019 we have been seeing brand new, wireless earbuds next to the new smartphone every time. In 2020 they were still the successors of Buds + and in 2021 Samsung came with the Galaxy Buds Pro. Now that it is so quiet around earplugs, it seems that Samsung is still satisfied enough with its Galaxy Buds Pro and that you use them in combination with a new phone or tablet.

We reviewed Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro at the time and came to the conclusion that these earbuds are definitely worth it, especially when it comes to battery life: “Samsung has been comfortable wearing its Buds for years, and that applies again with the Galaxy Buds Pro. Another good thing is the battery life. With over 10 hours without ANC and over 6 hours with ANC, these are the earphones you can use to get through the work week without any problems – if you wear the earphones for four or five hours a day, then this should not be a problem and you should use ANC enabled, perhaps top up once on the last day of the working week. Not many earphones reach this height, but with the Galaxy Buds Pro from Samsung it seems obvious, and it is something you quickly get used to.”
Apparently Samsung is now so used to it that it does not think of new copies at all. But we won’t know for sure until the Unpacked event on February 9.
