Samsung Galaxy A33 and A53 official: these are the new midrangers with 5G

Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy A33 and Galaxy A53. The smartphones follow the popular Galaxy A32 and A52 and have been improved on a number of points. We tell you all about it.

Samsung’s most popular mid-range has received a successor, the Galaxy A53. This 5G phone gets a number of improvements compared to the Galaxy A52 5G. In addition to a variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, there is also a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Samsung has exchanged the 4,500 mAh of the A52 for a 5,000 mAh one in the A53. In addition, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G has been exchanged for the Exynos 1280 from our own factory.

According to Samsung, that processor, in combination with artificial intelligence, should provide better photos. Even in low light. The camera’s portrait mode has also been improved, and the phone gets playful filters and effects. With the Photo Remaster function you can improve low quality photos and with Object Eraser you can remove objects from photos.

The cameras of the Galaxy A53 match those of the Galaxy A52 5G, and so do the weight, the IP67 certificate and the 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate. The 3.5mm audio jack is no longer there, and so is the charger plug.

Samsung Galaxy A33

Last year, the Samsung Galaxy A32 appeared in a 4G and a 5G version. This year we only see a 5G version of the Samsung Galaxy A33. This phone gets about the same improvements as the Galaxy A53. We are talking about the Exynos 1200 chipset, a 5,000 mAh battery and the improvements for the camera.

The 3.5 mm audio jack and the plug are no longer in the box, but the IP67 certificate is present. In addition, the screen of the A33 has a 90 Hz refresh rate as standard. With the predecessor, this was only the case with the 4G variant.

Galaxy A33 and A53 are more durable

Samsung has omitted that plug with both the Galaxy A33 and the Galaxy A53. This in the context of ‘Galaxy for the Planet’. That is a sustainability platform that has also been applied to the premium S22 smartphones. The packaging itself is also made from sustainably produced paper. And recycled materials are used for the buttons on the side and SIM card holders of the devices. The service life of the new A-series has also been extended. Both smartphones will receive four new Android versions and five years of security updates. The phones can therefore count on Android 13, Android 14, Android 15 and Android 16.

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is 70 euros more expensive than the Galaxy A32 5G, but you do get more RAM. For the Galaxy A53 you pay 20 euros more for the same memory variant. And now there is also a version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

Where is the Galaxy A73?

Samsung does not mention anything about the Galaxy A73 while it is usually announced together with the A50 series. It is not known if and when we can expect this smartphone.
