Samsung will release the Galaxy S21 FE in January with Android 12 installed. That gives buyers an extra argument to choose the device, because it is supported longer than the other Galaxy S21 devices.

Samsung was severely tested this year by the worldwide shortage of chips. Originally, the Galaxy S21 FE, or Fan Edition, was supposed to be on the market in August. The launch has been rumored to have been postponed to January 4, 2022. Nevertheless, the latest news about this more accessible S21 variant is a boost: the phone will immediately appear with Android 12 and Samsung’s One UI 4.0 shell, you know that. The fact that Samsung releases its flagship with the latest software is a good thing for Samsung. It is in fact an additional selling point for a flagship that appears only one month before the unveiling of the new Galaxy S22 series.
Updates up to Android 15
The Galaxy S21 FE will be able to enjoy three version updates according to Samsung’s update policy. In other words: Samsung will update it up to and including Android 15, while support for the other S21 devices will stop after Android 14. Samsung could market the phone as the Galaxy S21 FE as the smaller brother of the Galaxy S22 series, which enjoys the same level of update support. The phone is also expected to come at a lower price point compared to the S22 phones.
Samsung will soon deliver the Galaxy S21 FE with the One Ui 4.0 shell. With that new version, users get a new design where the colors of the interface are determined based on the background you set.
