Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: we also want these functions on our iPhone

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 on January 17, with many new features. In this article you can read which of those functions we would also like to see on our iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S24: three new versions

The three announced versions are the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra. The S24 is the entry-level model, with a 6.2-inch AMOLED screen, 1080p resolution, a 50 megapixel camera and a 4000 mAh battery, for a price from 899 euros. The Plus version is a bit larger with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen. With a 1440p resolution and a 4900 mAh battery, it is also a bit better. This is also reflected in the price, you can get the phone from 1149 euros.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is the real flagship. The AMOLED screen is slightly larger at 6.8 inches and a resolution of 1440p, the camera has a resolution of no less than 200 megapixels and the battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh. The price for this version starts at 1449 euros. In this article we focus on the S24 Ultra, because it has the most new things to offer in terms of hardware.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra: we also want these functions on our iPhone

We also want these features on our iPhone

The first thing you will probably notice when you look at the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is that compared to an iPhone 15 Pro Max, it is slightly larger, but above all much more angular. The screen, at 6.8 inches, is also slightly larger than that of the 15 Pro Max (6.7 inches). These aren’t necessarily things we want on our iPhone either, but the following things are.

More megapixels

The main camera of the S24 Ultra has no less than 200 megapixels (compared to 48 megapixels on the iPhone), which will certainly benefit from the 5x optical zoom (which the iPhone 15 Pro Max also has). In addition, there is also a 12MP wide-angle lens (same as on the iPhone), 10MP telephoto lens and 50MP periscope lens (12MP on the iPhone). Megapixels are of course not everything, but we clearly see room for improvement on the iPhone in this regard.

More powerful battery

The S24 Ultra has a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, while that of the 15 Pro Max remains at 4441 mAh. iPhones usually have a longer battery life with a battery of the same capacity as that of an Android. A more powerful battery is therefore not necessarily necessary, but it would provide a significantly longer battery life.

Octa core processor

The Samsung S24 Ultra has an octa-core processor (8 cores: 1x 3.3 GHz, 5x 3.2 GHz and 2x 2.3 GHz). The iPhone 15 Pro Max has a hexa-core (6 cores: 2x 3.78 GHz and 4x 2.11 GHz). Tests will soon show whether this really makes the S24 Ultra faster. The fact remains that a processor with 8 cores offers more options.

Galaxy AI

Samsung has equipped the new S24 models with Galaxy AI, which offers a variety of functions that work with artificial intelligence. For example, you can translate messages and telephone conversations live into another language (will only be added later in Dutch), and automatically adjust the writing style of messages. For example, you can also have minutes automatically created during a meeting, distinguishing the different speakers.

With the AI ’Circle to Search’ function, you can freeze the image in any app, circle something and then automatically search the internet for what you have circled. Photography has also been improved with AI. You can now easily remove reflections and noise, even in dark photos. Very useful functions, which Apple will hopefully also include in iOS 18 this year. In any case, previous rumors already point to many new AI functions in iOS.

Conclusion: we want these S24 features on our iPhone

We like to see the mentioned functions on our iPhone, but there are actually only two that really make a difference. An octa-core processor and more powerful battery are nice, but it’s certainly not something you’re currently missing on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

You may not immediately miss 200 megapixels, but it does offer many more options. Especially when it comes to optical zooming. As far as we are concerned, Apple can work on that. In addition, we would also like to see AI functions on our iPhone. Samsung is now taking the lead with the S24 Ultra, but the possibilities are of course endless. We are very curious to see how Apple will integrate AI into the next iPhone!
