Samsung announces PRO Ultimate, a new UHS-I memory card in micro SD and full-size SD versions that helps professional photographers and content creators maximize productivity in their creative workflow. The new PRO Ultimate range has a capacity of up to 512 GB and an impressive sequential read speed of up to 200 megabytes per second (MB/s).
Best read and write speeds with UHS-I interface
The PRO Ultimate is an example of Samsung’s technological innovations and sets a new standard with read speeds of up to 200 MB/s (the maximum achievable speed via the UHS-I interface) and write speeds of 130 MB/s. Regardless of capacity, these speeds ensure smooth transfer of heavy files such as 4K ultra-high definition (UHD) and Full HD video with support for Video Speed Class 30 (V30).
To meet consumers’ needs to work with large files and enable fast transfer to other devices, the PRO Ultimate micro SD card has an Application Performance Class 2 (A2). This enables high performance for random read and write operations and multi-tasking.
More reliability and durability
Professional photographers and content creators can expect reliable performance from the Samsung PRO Ultimate. That’s thanks to the controller’s improved Error Correction Code (ECC) engine and multi-proof security features that ensure more secure storage of data for longer periods. An upgrade to the ECC’s Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code (from 1-kilobyte (KB) to a 2KB engine) allows for an increased number of write and erase cycles on the PRO Ultimate.
The PRO Ultimate passes the industry’s most stringent testing for worry-free use, even in challenging environments. For example, it is protected against water for up to 72 hours at a depth of two meters, fall-resistant from a height of up to five meters, protected against wear and tear for up to 10,000 swipes and offers protection against X-rays and magnetism. It even continues to work in extreme temperatures from -25°C to 85°C. In addition, the PRO Ultimate SD card offers shock protection up to 1,500 grams.
Maximum energy efficiency thanks to 28nm controller
A new 28nanometer (nm) controller delivers 37% better energy efficiency compared to Samsung’s previous ranges equipped with the 55nm controller. This allows consumers to use their devices for extended periods of time without having to charge them frequently, getting the most out of their device’s battery life.

The PRO Ultimate micro SD card is available in three different storage capacities of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB with suggested retail prices ranging from €36.99 for the 128GB model to €137.99 for the 512B card. The PRO Ultimate micro SD card with the card reader ranges from € 47.99 for 128 GB to € 148.99 for 512 GB. The PRO Ultimate SD card is offered in four storage capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB, with suggested retail prices from € 30.99 for 64 GB to € 167.99 for 512 GB. The PRO Ultimate SD card with card reader ranges from €41.99 to €178.99 for cards from 64 GB to 512 GB.
The PRO Ultimate micro SD card will be available from August 29 and the PRO Ultimate SD card will be available worldwide in October 2023. The version that includes a card reader will also be available to users for all capacities and in both formats.
The new PRO Ultimate memory cards come with a ten-year limited warranty.
