The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was a surprising and very welcome addition to the smartphone landscape in 2020. The FE smartphones can be seen as cheaper versions of the premium Galaxy phones, with many of the same features for a much lower price. The S20 FE was therefore a popular phone, and received a successor this year. Only this Galaxy S21 FE came on the market at an unfortunate time, just before the launch of the S22 series. We don’t know why the smartphone was announced so late. We do know that there are now new rumors claiming that there will be no successor.
No evidence of a Samsung Galaxy S22 FE
According to multiple sources of SamMobile Samsung will not release the Galaxy S22 FE this year. It is also quite likely that no more FE models will be released in the future.
Those rumors are supported by the lack of evidence of the device’s existence. By this time last year, we had already seen at least some evidence pointing to Samsung working on the Galaxy S21 FE. For example, we already saw renders of the device at an early stage. Also the model number of the Galaxy S22 FE SM-S900 is nowhere to be found, according to Sammobile.
In 2020, the Galaxy S20 FE was the very good price fighter in its segment, and stood head and shoulders above it. With the S21 FE, that’s a different story. With the S21 FE, we get to see a similar phone more than a year and a half later. That feels like a little too late† In addition, the competition is so fierce and the launch of the S22 series is also imminent.
According to the website, there is no evidence that Samsung is working on the Galaxy S22 FE. That, coupled with the information they’ve gotten from their sources about the plane’s cancellation, isn’t very hopeful.
