Schedule iMessage messages in the Messages app (Send later)

If you are busy and want to send an important message later in the day via the Messages app, you can schedule a message (Send later). By scheduling a message, it will be sent automatically on a set date and time.

Since iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, it is possible to send messages at a later time. For this a ‘Send later‘ option added to the Messages app. You can read how this function works below.

Use Send Later in the Messages app

The Send later option is not directly visible in the user interface of the Brichten app, for this you have to perform an additional action via the + menu. Follow the steps below to create a via Send later to send.

  • Open the Messages app for iPhone, iPad, or Mac
  • Go to the conversation where you want to send a message.
  • Tap or click the plus (+) button
  • Select the option ‘Send later
  • Type your message
  • You can adjust the sending time by tapping or clicking in the blue bar. It is possible to send the message later in the day or on another day, scroll through the times and days.
  • Tap or click the Send button (the button with the arrow pointing up).

The message will be sent automatically at the time you set.

Limitations of the Send Later feature

NB! Your iPhone, iPad or Mac must be turned on and connected to the network/internet at that time. If this is not the case, the message will not be sent. The message is actually sent from the device itself, not from iCloud.

In most cases this will not be a problem on an iPhone or iPad, but on your Mac it is of course a different story. This is not always switched on or connected to the mains, keep this in mind if you Send later will use.
