Search WhatsApp messages for keywords easily. Handy if you no longer remember who said what in the digital conversations.
Search app
Most WhatsApp users have a lot of conversations through the messaging app. Retrieving what has been said therefore seems impossible. But that is not it. Because the user searches all chats and a specific conversation, simply by keyword.
Search all apps (Android device)
Search for a particular word in all conversations like this:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the magnifying glass at the top right.
- Type the search term.
- Tap the magnifying glass at the bottom right.
A list of messages containing the search term opens.
Search in a chat (Android device)
Search for a particular word in a chat like this:
- Open the WhatsApp app.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the desired chat.
- Tap the three dots icon at the top right.
- Tap on To search.
- Type the search term.
- Tap the magnifying glass on the keyboard.
- Search terms found are marked in yellow. Tap the arrows to go to the next/previous word found.
Search all apps (iPhone)
Search for a particular word in all conversations like this:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Scroll all the way up.
- The search bar becomes visible. Tap this search bar.
- Type the search term in the search bar.
- Tap at the bottom right Search.
Now a list of messages will appear, all containing the search term.
Search in a chat (iPhone)
Search for a particular word in a chat like this:
- Open the WhatsApp app.
- Tap the tab chats.
- Tap the desired chat.
- Tap the name of the contact or group conversation at the top.
- Tap on Search chat.
- Type the keyword.
- Search terms found are marked in yellow. At the bottom you will find how many results there are. Use the arrows in front of it to go to the next word found.
