Send photos via WhatsApp: 3 options
Do you want to share photos via WhatsApp? Then you have three options: compressed, high quality or original quality. Compression on photos is set as standard and ensures that the photos are first compressed before they are sent. If you want to send them in HD, you can do this manually or always.

- Open a chat conversation in WhatsApp
- Tap the plus button
- Choose ‘photos’
- Tap at the top of the opened window on ‘HD’
- Select the desired photos
- Tap the send button
Always send in high quality via WhatsApp
You always have to do the above steps manually every time you send photos. WhatsApp has set this to save data. Do you have a large data bundle and/or storage on your smartphone? Then you can always send high -quality photos. You can enable this via the steps below.
- Open WhatsApp
- Go to ‘Settings’
- Choose ‘Storage and Data’
- Open ‘upload quality’
- Choose ‘HD quality’

Send photos in original quality
Do you just want to send the original photo? Then that is also possible via WhatsApp. A compression is still used when sending in HD quality. To send an original image, it is sufficient to open the chat conversation and to tap the Plus button. Then choose a document and then ‘photo and video’. Select the media and send it.
