Set up network on iPad

With WiFi you can use the internet at home and often on the go. How do you connect to such a network?

Connect an iPad with iOS 13 or later to a Wi-Fi connection as follows:

  • Tap the app Institutions Settings icon.
  • Tap on Wi-Fi.
  • Under ‘Networks’ you will find the different networks that are within range of the iPad. Some networks have a lock, others do not. The lock means that it is a secure network. You will find unsecured networks in some public places. For example, in certain NS intercity trains. But often Wi-Fi networks are secured. You will then need a password to connect to the network.
    • To connect to an unsecured network, tap the network you want to connect to. After a while, a checkmark will appear in front of the network name. This is the sign that you are connected. Note: Make sure the network can be trusted before connecting to it and don’t deal with confidential information on your iPad. You can assume that you do not log in to, for example, internet banking or your e-mail when you are on an unsecured network.
    • Connecting to a secured network is like this: tap the network you want to connect to. Enter the password and tap Connect. After a while, a checkmark will appear in front of the network name. This is the sign that you are connected.

The iPad now remembers this network. So the next time you are near the network, the iPad will connect automatically.
