Shell places hundreds of fast chargers at hardware stores

Anyone who goes to pick up DIY supplies at a Gamma or Karwei branch will soon be able to connect their electric car to a Shell fast charger on site.

Next year, a total of 1,400 fast chargers will be installed at 380 DIY stores of the Gamma and Karwei parent company Intergamma in the Netherlands and Belgium. Today Shell and Intergamma signed an agreement that makes this mega job possible. Due to the close-knit retail network of the hardware stores, a hardware store and fast charger is almost always within reach within ten minutes, the parties involved report.

Harm-Jan Stoter, CEO of Intergamma: “With this collaboration we are adding a new and sustainable service to our customer offer. Our customers are increasingly taking sustainability into account in their purchasing decision. We meet them in the best possible way with us. DIY store assortment, but soon also with our fast charging stations.”

Earlier this month, Shell announced that it will also place fast chargers at supermarkets. In that case, it concerns 120 fast chargers at 30 supermarkets.
