Show more content on your iPad screen with this smart setting

Want to show more content on your iPad screen? Then you can use display zoom. This is a handy and especially smart setting to show more content on the display.

You may have noticed that Apple keeps the iPadOS interface minimalist, using a lot of empty space. This can sometimes come at the expense of layout. Using display zoom, you can fit more content on the screen by freeing up more space, a feature we’re familiar with from larger iPhone models.

More space on the same iPad screen. That may sound strange, but it is not that strange. Just like on a Mac, it is possible for the iPad to adjust the resolution of the screen. This creates more space and you get to see more content. The condition is that you have an iPad Pro from 2018, iPad Air with M1 chip (5th generation) or later.

Adjust iPad screen resolution

  • Open the Settings app on your iPad
  • Go to ‘Display and brightness’
  • Under ‘Display’, tap ‘Display Zoom’

Depending on the type of iPad you’re using, you’ll now see different options: On the 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air, you can choose between ‘Standard’ and ‘More space’. On the 12.9-inch, 13-inch iPad Pro, and iPad Air, you have three choices: ‘Zoomed in’, ‘Standard’, and ‘More space’.

Change your iPad's screen resolution with display zoom

If you choose ‘More space’ you will see the screen change. The font size becomes smaller, along with the various controls. This also applies to the home screen, because the app icons become smaller.

Display zoom gives users more workspace when using multiple apps. This can be in combination with the Stage Manager feature, or when using the Slide Over feature.

Large app icons

Still find that iPadOS takes up too much empty space on the Home screen? Consider adjusting the size of app icons on the Home screen. The icons will then appear larger and fill the screen.
