Singing along to your favorite music is of course the best if you know what is actually being sung. And that is sometimes difficult to understand! That is why Spotify now shows lyrics for many popular songs. You can read here how to conjure up lyrics in Spotify on PC and smartphone.
With CDs and LPs you will sometimes find lyrics printed in a booklet or on the cover, but with streaming that is of course a bit more difficult. Once you know where you can find the lyrics function in Spotify, you know exactly what is being sung from now on. It should be noted that not every song has added lyrics yet. This is especially true for bands that are a bit more obscure. However, for many popular artists they are just part of the (singing) part.
As soon as the lyrics are shown by Spotify, you can see exactly which line you have stayed with. That part of the text is colored white, the rest is black. Actually, it is just not quite a full-fledged karaoke, for that it should actually color per word.
Still, it’s also a nice feature for a party, because it works just as well on the Spotify app for smart TVs. So look – and sing! – everyone at the same time.
Lyrics in Spotify for Windows / macOS
Let’s take the desktop version of Spotify first, for Windows and macOS. First start the song you want to sing along so that the play bar appears. When lyrics are available, a new microphone icon will appear at the bottom right (next to the queue button).
Click on this and the lyrics will appear, it’s that simple. Seen enough? Click on the microphone again and your playlists will reappear.
Lyrics in Spotify for Android / iOS
It works slightly differently on Spotify for Android and iOS. Open the song being played for full view and scroll down a bit. Here you can now see the lyrics in its entirety. Press the arrows at the top to view them full screen.
The same applies here: the white text indicates where you left off in the song.
After all, you also see the option here Parts to stand. Tap that and then select your favorite rules. Then choose a contact to send the text to, including a handy link to open the song directly on Spotify. Start a group session in Spotify to immediately listen to your favorite tracks together, and sing along!
