Other corners
About a year ago, Skoda’s mid-sized SUV, the Karoq, got a facelift. The renewal round is not very startling, but secretly it is quite radical. Not only the front, but also the rear was heavily modified.
The Skoda Karoq was presented in a renewed form in November 2021. That put him a few months behind its bigger brother Kodiaq, which had previously been modernized in a similar way.
A difference between the Kodiaq and the Karoq is that Skoda works with more sharp corners and folds with the smaller model. The facelifted version is most easily identified by the distinctive kink in the underside of the headlamp units. As before, the lighting at the front is made up of two layers, although the lower units at Skoda are ‘just’ the fog lamps. The actual headlights connect directly to the grille before and after the facelift, but do so at a different angle since the facelift. The grille itself is extended a little further down and wears deeper into the front bumper, which of course also received a different layout.
On the back we cheat a bit. The Karoq already received the smeared ‘Skoda’ letters on the cover before the facelift, to replace the round logo. That is not a facelift-related difference, but there is still plenty to see. The rear lights are in fact new, with the outer parts also getting a different shape. The implementation of LED turn signals allowed this piece to be made smaller and cut more sharply. The remaining hole is filled by the bumper, which is thus extended further upwards. That bumper also has some sharper creases, especially on the corners. A new, somewhat sturdier layout of the black piece at the bottom completes the update of the butt.
