Memories on Snapchat
Snapchat has announced important changes for the application! The service has been available on the iPhone since 2011 and is intended for taking photos and videos. You can save this in Snapchat and are called memories that you can look back whenever you want. Snapchat has now announced that that will change, because you will have to pay money to view your memories.
With memories you can view photos and videos that you have previously saved in Snapchat. To make that easier, Snapchat regularly gives you notifications, in which you see what you were doing exactly one year, two years or a long time ago. You can still view these memories for free, but you will have to deposit a monthly amount to gain access to your photos and videos. We explain how you secure your memories in Snapchat.
This way you keep your memories for free
Have you stored many photos and videos in Snapchat? And do you not want to lose it? In that case we recommend that you back up all your memories on Snapchat as soon as possible. This way you keep access to all the images and videos that you have made, even if they disappear behind a payment wall in the application. You save all files as follows in Snapchat:
- Open ‘Snapchat’ on your phone;
- Go to the camera and tap your profile at the top left;
- Open ‘settings’ by tapping the gear on the top right;
- Scroll down and go under ‘App and Privacy’ to ‘My Privacy and Data’;
- Tap ‘my data’;
- Turn on the switch ‘Export your memories, chatmedia and shared stories’;
- Choose ’10 GB ‘with’ size package ‘;
- In addition, put the switch after ‘Memories and other media’;
- Tap ‘next’;
- Choose the date range, select ‘All time’ to save all memories;
- Check your e-mail address and finally tap ‘Send’.
After selecting your data and the date range, Snapchat will start making a backup. This can take hours or even days, depending on the number of memories you have stored in Snapchat. Do you want to back up your complete account? Then put the switches after all data, so that you can also see the chat history, spotlight and purchase history of your account.
Snapchat prices still unknown
Have you requested a backup of all the memories in Snapchat? You will automatically receive an email with all information as soon as they are ready. Therefore, make sure that you have access to the e-mail address that you enter when applying for the copy, because all photos and videos are sent there. Do you prefer to keep all images and videos in Snapchat itself? Then you get up to 5 GB of storage space for free.
If you need more storage space you will have to pay soon. At Snapchat Plus you can choose 100 GB or 200 GB, at Snapchat Platinum you get 5 TB of storage space. It is still unclear how much this will cost. At the moment you pay 3.99 euros a month for Snapchat Plus, which is 9.99 euros per month for Snapchat Platinum. These prices may become even higher as soon as you have to pay for memories on Snapchat.
More and more functions are disappearing behind the payment wall at Snapchat. It is now necessary to pay for expired series, to adjust the symbol of the application and for removing Snapchat AI. In addition, there will be memories, there may be more functions of Snapchat in the future. It is not yet known when you have to pay for your memories. Therefore, save them as quickly as possible, to prevent you from losing access to your photos and videos.
