The promise sounds like a revolution in the car market: the Dutch carmaker Lightyear wants to make electric cars independent of charging stations and sockets. To this end, the company from Eindhoven has developed the “Lightyear One”, an electric car with solar cells. The vehicle is charged by solar energy while driving and when parked. The new model is currently being presented throughout Europe. Production of a limited edition for 946 customers who have pre-ordered the Lightyear One is scheduled to begin in the summer.
