‘Sony WH-1000XM5 does not have as large a battery as thought’

Sony’s new WH-1000XM5 headphones probably don’t have as big a battery as previously thought. A new leak reveals that the device will not have a 40-hour battery life, but a 30-hour battery life. A big difference.

Sony WH-1000XM5 is the successor of the headphones WH-1000XM4 and these are headphones whose shells you place over the ear. The XM4 is highly regarded, just like predecessor XM3, so expectations for the new gadget from Sony are high.

However, we have to adjust those expectations a bit, because a leak (via Android Headlines) it turns out that the box in which the headphones come states that the battery life is up to 30 hours. While that’s not a setback compared to the previous headphones, it’s a let down for anyone who saw the previous leak. It stated here that the device could last for 40 hours.

360 Reality Audio

It’s not all doom and gloom: the rest of the previous leak is confirmed by the new leak. Think 360-degree spatial audio (which is called 360 Reality Audio by Sony). A new feature was also spotted: these headphones probably have a voice assistant built-in, namely the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. There is also certification for Apple products, which means that the headphones are a lot richer than previous headphones in terms of integration with other products.

It is also unknown what we can expect from the Sony WH-1000XM5 in terms of audio. The quality of the sound will probably be boosted again, in addition to wearing comfort. However, we have to wait a little longer for this, although it won’t be long, given that the packaging is apparently already ready.

The price, name and appearance have remained the same, but Sony has added a number of very handy and much-requested features to the WH-1000XM4. The Sony WH-1000XM4, just like the Sony WH-1000XM3, are again very good headphones from the top shelf.”
