There is a Spotify accessory that the company has now officially discontinued and for which you may still be able to get money. You need to know this.
Spotify has stopped doing this
The accessory in question is called Car Thing and can no longer be used. Spotify Car Thing is a music player made for older car models that cannot handle modern entertainment systems such as Apple CarPlay. However, the device never became a success and Spotify has now pulled the plug.
If you own a Car Thing, Spotify recommends recycling the device. At the same time, the company indicates that you are eligible for a refund You can contact customer service until January 14. In any case, you will need proof of purchase.
Spotify Car Thing
Spotify’s Car Thing hit the market in April 2021 and was Spotify’s first hardware product. The accessory was designed to provide easy access to Spotify music while sitting in a car without a modern infotainment system. Just five months after its launch, Spotify stopped production of Car Thing again, due to low demand for the product. The company continued to support the copies sold.
Last May, Spotify announced it would stop supporting Car Thing and it was recently announced that the device would stop working sometime in December. According to Spotify, this was chosen to streamline the product offering.
There are people who ways have decided to continue using Car Thing now that Spotify has stopped supporting it. It seems to have something to do with updating the Spotify app. There are people who have not installed the latest update and can still use Car Thing. This is of course only a temporary solution, so requesting a refund seems to be a better idea.
