Spotify Premium is becoming more expensive: Apple Music is now the cheapest!

Spotify has increased the prices for the Premium subscription in the Netherlands and Belgium – you are now a lot cheaper with Apple Music!

Spotify Premium is becoming more expensive

The prices of Spotify Premium are going up considerably in both Belgium and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, the increase is higher than in Belgium and it can amount to up to four euros extra per month. This makes Apple Music the cheapest option. The price increase takes effect directly for new customers and from May for existing customers. The prices per month then look like this:

• Premium individual goes from 10.99 euros to 12.99 euros.
• Premium Duo goes from 14.99 euros to 17.99 euros.
• Premium Family goes from 17.99 euros to 21.99 euros.
• Premium student goes from 5.99 euros to 6.99 euros.

In Belgium, the price increase of Spotify Premium with the exception of Premium Student is slightly less rigorous:

• Premium individual: 11.99 euros.
• Premium duo: 16.99 euros.
• Premium Family: 20.99 euros.
• Premium student: 6.99 euros.

Spotify wants to continue to renew

An e-mail that Spotify sends to customers states that the company increases the prices of Spotify Premium to keep renewing and being able to continue to improve the offer. However, no concrete examples are mentioned. Spotify may refer here to an AI-Chatbot that automatically makes playlists. The company is experimenting with that in the United States, but such a position is not yet there in the Netherlands.

Apple Music is now the cheapest option

Due to the price increase of Spotify Premium, Apple Music is now the cheapest option. Apple Music also offers Lossless Audio, something that Spotify has been working on for years but which is still not available. The following prizes apply to Apple Music:

• Apple Music Individual: 10.99 euros.
• Apple Music Family: 16.99 euros.
• Apple Music students: 5.99 euros.

You can also choose for Apple One. You then combine iCloud+, Apple TV+, Apple Music and Apple Arcade. For Apple One individually you pay 19.95 euros per month and Apple One family costs 25.95 euros.
