2020 will go into the books as the year that was completely dominated by the corona crisis. This does not alter the fact that we did not listen to music. In fact, more people are actively streaming at home, Spotify also sees. Also this year the streaming service comes with an annual overview of your favorite songs, artists and podcasts, called Spotify Wrapped 2020.
Every year Spotify celebrates the end of the year with a personal list of your favorite music and genres from the past twelve months. Since last week, 2020 Wrapped is available for every user, but even if you do not have a Spotify account you can get an annual overview. On this website a number of highlights of the past year have been collected. For example, Bad Bunny is the most streamed artist of 2020 worldwide, while the most listened to song is Blinding Lights from The Weeknd.
You will also find an overview of the most popular podcasts and playlists and you will find out that music from the 80s in particular came back on the radar.
Personal list
If you do have an account with Spotify, you can find your personal annual overview in the iPhone, iPad and Android app of the streaming service. Under the Home tab you will immediately find your 2020 Wrapped. Also by logging in via your browser to the website from Spotify you can see your annual overview.
Spotify has provided the annual overview with some extra functions this year. In an Instagram Stories-like format, you see your favorite music, how many new artists you have discovered, how many genres you have listened to and you even get presented with some quiz questions. Do you know which decade you played the most music from compared to other listeners? And who is your favorite artist of the year?
Also nice: you also earn all kinds of badges based on your listening habits. For example, you get the Taste Maker virtual sticker if your playlist has gained a certain number of followers or the Pioneer badge if you listened to songs before they became popular with a wider audience.
Halfway through your 2020 Wrapped story, you will be given the option to add your top songs from 2020 to your library, so that you have them in one list in Spotify, or to share certain parts of your Wrapped on social media.
Extra list
Hidden in the tab Search In the Spotify app you will also find the playlist under 2020 Wrapped Missed hits. Here you will find songs from 2020 that Spotify thinks you shouldn’t miss. A nice extra on top of your annual overview!
