SSC North America is taking the next step for the naturally shy Tuatara. The car is presented as a fierce Striker and an alien Aggressor, versions that seem to focus more on track use than on very fast straight-ahead driving.
Have you just decided to score a copy of the fastest passenger car in the world, the neighbor is ahead of you. Then you are still not unique and that is a shame if you are tapping a sloppy two million dollars for the SSC Tuatara.
We’re not entirely sure if this problem really exists, but SSC still has a solution for it. It presents two fierce versions of its super-hyper-ultracar, the Striker and the Agressor, launched in 2018.
Identical
For those who have already browsed through the photos: yes, they are identical on the outside as far as we can see. Both cars will receive heavy aerodynamic adjustments. Where the original is remarkably smooth and sleek for a car that reportedly still stays on the ground at 480 km / h, both newcomers feature a wide variety of spoilers and splitters. It has to be said: it all looks quite coherent.
The SSC Tuatara Striker is the first step in this upgrade round. The car has the same V8 as the regular Tuatara, which means that you also have a maximum of 1,750 ‘hp’, or 1,774 ‘European’ horsepower, at your disposal here. The big difference is the downforce, which on the Striker is about 500 kg at 260 km / h. It should make the car more suitable for the track. The Striker is street legal, but also has to hold its own on a track day. Unfortunately, it is not known how much the top speed is affected by the aerodynamic adjustments.
No limits
Those who only go on the track, and therefore never on the public road with their Tuatara, better go for the Aggressor. This verse is optically almost identical to the Striker, but is pumped up under the skin. SSC speaks of a bizarre 2,200 hp – 2,231 hp. The fact that the car is not road-legal and therefore does not have to comply with all kinds of rules, also means that the Agressor can be adjusted entirely according to your wishes and almost without restrictions.
That pleasure is for a select group, because SSC only wants to build 10 Aggressors. The Striker appears to be included in the regular production run of the Tuatara, with a total of 100 being built.
Fastest in the world
A regular SSC Tuatara achieved an average top speed of 282.9 miles per hour, or 455.3 km / h, during official two-way measurements. This means that he can call himself the fastest production car in the world, after the Ultimate Aero also won that title for SSC at the beginning of this century.
