Starting price BMW XM: more than 175,000 euros

The BMW XM is a brand new behemoth of SUV, an aggressively designed plug-in hybrid whose starting price is now known. The BMW XM costs at least more than €175,000, but you get 653 hp of partial electrical power in return.

BMW has created a special model with the XM. In the first place, the XM distinguishes itself in design from almost every other car of the brand, but that is not the only interesting feature of the SUV. The BMW XM is always a full-fledged M-model and so it is armed to the teeth with motor violence. Now it is also known what the BMW XM should cost.

BMW asks at least €175,142 for the XM and will be on the Dutch market in the spring of 2023. For your generous 175 grand you get a 5.11 meter long aggressive-looking giant that is only slightly shorter than an X7, but a little 20 centimeters longer than the X5. The M Hybrid drivetrain is at least as impressive as the appearance of the SUV. It has a 489 hp 4.4 V8 with two turbos that works together with a 197 hp electric motor. The system output: 653 hp and 800 Nm of torque, enough to help the BMW XM reach a speed of 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Thanks to the 25.7 kWh battery, you can also drive it electrically for another 82 to 88 kilometers.

Do you think more than 650 hp is not enough? Then wait a minute. The BMW XM will also be launched as Label Red in the autumn of next year. In that extra potent version, the 4.4 V8 spits out 585 hp and 750 Nm. Together with the well-known 197 hp electric motor, this provides the XM Label Red with a system power of 748 hp and 1,000 Nm. The price of this version is not yet known.

To put the starting price of more than €175,000 in perspective: the BMW X7 costs €181.351 as a 530 hp M60i. For the 600 hp strong X6 M you pay at least €206,490. Smaller and less power, but due to the absence of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the X6 M is clearly bitten harder by the bpm monster.
