Students from Solar Team Eindhoven of TU Eindhoven have presented a new electric car. This is the Stella Terra, a relatively compact electric off-roader that generates its required energy with solar cells.

That student team Solar Team Eindhoven knows how to make so-called ‘solar cars’ is an understatement at least this week. The bollebozen team has already developed several solar cars called Stella with which it participated in the World Solar Challenge in Australia and in 2021 we were even introduced to an innovative camper: the Stella Vita. Just like the brand new Sterra Terra that the Solar Team Eindhoven is now presenting to us, this creation also generated all its required energy with solar panels.

The Stella Terra has a well-known teardrop shape with a steeply sloping roofline that ends in a truncated buttock. The roof is of course completely covered with solar cells. Stella Terra should be able to work both on and off the asphalt. To enhance the adventurous character, the Stella Terra is equipped with slightly flared wheel arches that you normally see on SUVs and crossovers. The car weighs 1,200 kilos, should be able to drive up to 630 kilometers electrically under ideal conditions and has a top speed of 145 km/h. More detailed technical data are not yet available.
