Where the purchase subsidy for new BEVs was used up like crazy, the opposite is the case for the used electric car bank. That is not even half empty.
Since 1 July this year, it is possible to receive € 2,000 purchase subsidy if you are in the market for a used electric car. The total pot is € 7.2 million. In addition, there was also a pot (€ 10 million) for new BEVs, whereby a subsidy of € 4,000 per car was possible. That pot was already empty within two weeks, but with the subsidy for used electric cars, the bottom is still far from being in sight.
The most recent figures from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency show that ‘only’ € 3.24 million in subsidies has been used up for second-hand EVs. That means that there is still € 3.96 million left. A quick calculation shows that a purchase subsidy has been applied for for 1,620 used EVs and that there is therefore a subsidy left for 1,980 cars. For now, there is still plenty of time if you consider a second-hand electric car with a new value of less than € 45,000 and a WLTP range of at least 120 km.
New chance
The fact that the pot for new EVs was empty so quickly will undoubtedly have led to disappointment for many. Next year, however, you have another chance, because then the subsidy pool will be supplemented again to € 27.9 million. So considerably more than this year. If you have already submitted an application, but have missed the mark, the application will be moved to the new year. However, the pot for second-hand EVs seems to be sufficient at the current rate until the end of the year.
