A leaker claims that the successor to the OnePlus 10 Pro, presumably the OnePlus 11 Pro, will be announced at the end of this year. OnePlus will want to be the first manufacturer to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm’s new upcoming high-end chipset.
Transformation of OnePlus
OnePlus seems to be losing face a bit in recent years and changing its strategy. First of all, they are increasingly transforming their own OxygenOS, their software shell over Android, into a kind of ColorOS 2.0. ColorOS is the operating system that OPPO, the sister company of OnePlus, uses. Many loyal OnePlus users think this is a shame, as OxygenOS offered a much cleaner Android experience than ColorOS. And it is not only this, also in terms of design and specifications, for example, the smartphones from OnePlus are increasingly becoming OPPO phones, but with a OnePlus sticker stuck on it.
In addition, it is also a bit strange in terms of announcements from OnePlus lately, at least here in Europe. For example, the OnePlus 10 Pro was only announced on March 31 in the Netherlands last year, while the model was announced at the beginning of January in China. The tension that OnePlus always managed to build up somewhat, was also a bit gone. According to rumors, OnePlus now seems to want to go a step further.
OnePlus 11 Pro already in China at the end of this year
According to an leaker on Weibo OnePlus will announce the 11 Pro in China at the end of this year. OnePlus will do everything it can to be the first smartphone manufacturer to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This new high-end chip will probably be announced next November and will have to be a lot more economical than the 8 Gen 1 chipset, you can read more about this in this article.
It is of course a rumor, but it will fit in the current strategy of OnePlus. If it turns out to be true, we expect an announcement in China first. Two or three months later, the device will probably also be able to come our way.
