‘Support AirPods in later iOS 15 version Find My Network’

Tonight is the release of iOS 15, but a nice AirPods feature is not available. The ability to track your AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro Max through the Find My network has been postponed until “later this year.”

AirPods with Find My Network

If you now lose your AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, you can only locate them if you are within Bluetooth range. This is about ten meters. If you are further away, the Find My app map will only show the last known location.

In iOS 15, it would become possible to continue to track the AirPods at a greater distance. Apple does this by adding the devices to the Find My network. This network consists of the hundreds of millions of devices that exist worldwide. If you lose your AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs will provide an approximate location. This is done completely anonymously.

Unfortunately, this cool feature is not available immediately after the release of iOS 15. On the website from Apple – which discusses all new iOS 15 features – it is said that the feature will be added in a software update that will be released later this year. You can read more about the new AirPods function in the article below.

Deferred iOS 15 Features

The ability to locate your AirPods Pro or AirPods Max through the Find My network isn’t the only iOS 15 delayed feature. For example, Apple removed the SharePlay FaceTime function from the betas. This feature allows you to enjoy an Apple TV+ series or Apple Music together while video calling. It is unknown when the feature will be available.

For macOS Monterey, an important feature has also been deferred: ‘Universal Controls’. You can use this, for example, to use the keyboard and trackpad of a Mac to control your iPad. Also, AirDropping is not necessary; files can be moved by simply dragging them.

Fortunately, there are also a lot of nice new features that are available tonight. You can read which ones they are on our iOS 15 page. Also check out the article detailing the 16 minor features and improvements of iOS 15.
