Suzuki 2022 GSX-S1000S Katana: sharper than ever

Suzuki has given the GSX-S1000S Katana its first update. The modern retro is sharper than ever, according to the Japanese, with a more powerful and smoother one-liter four-cylinder with standard quickshifter with autoblipper.

In a nutshell, you could say that the innovations that Suzuki made to the GSX-S1000 this year have now also made their way to the GSX-S1000S Katana. For example, the Katana has now received the same beating heart, which meets the requirements of Euro 5 and has a top power of 152 hp.

The inline four-cylinder engine not only has more top-end power, but also significantly more usable torque, making it feel stronger across the board. The electronics package has also been adopted, with three driving modes and 5-position traction control in addition to the up/down quickshifter. The display has been renewed and now has a red color.

As for the chassis, the Katana shares the same super-stiff twin-spar aluminum frame plus swingarm of the GSX-R1000, with an adjustable 43mm KYB upside-down fork at the front, while the rear is sprung with a KYB monoshock.

Like the GSX-S1000, the GSX-S1000S Katana is now also fitted with Dunlop Roadsport 2 tires in sizes 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 190/50 ZR17 at the rear. Double 310 discs with Brembo Monobloc brake calipers should bring the Katana to a stop again in time.

The 2022 GSX-S1000S Katana can be ordered in two new colors: matte dark blue with gold-colored wheels and dark gray with red wheels. Available from the first quarter of 2022, for € 15,999.
