Suzuki announces price DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM

After unveiling the motorbikes at the end of last year, Suzuki has now announced the prize of the DR-Z4S Dual Sport and the DR-Z4SM Supermoto, the successors of the DR-Z400S and SM of the early century, which were taken from the gamma as a result of increasingly strict emission requirements. Both models can be ordered immediately, but there is a tough price tag.

Suzuki announces price DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM

The DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are the modern successors of the iconic DR-Z400S and DR-Z400SM, models that were loved worldwide for their robustness, versatility and high fun factor. With this new generation, Suzuki says he brings a modern interpretation of a proven success formula: a unique combination of high build quality, reliability and playful driving. According to Suzuki, the Suzuki DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are not only a tribute to their iconic predecessors, but they are also ready to inspire a new generation of riders.

The DR-Z4S is designed as a real dual sport engine bike, developed according to the ‘Ready 4 Anything’ concept. This concept stands for maximum versatility: whether you opt for an adventurous ride on unpaved paths or a relaxed tour on the public road, according to Suzuki, the DR-Z4S is ready.

With a high seating position, longer spring road and a 21-inch front wheel, it offers optimum control and comfort in various conditions. This geometry, combined with a straight sitting position and wider footrests, makes it extremely suitable for off-road adventures and unpaved paths.

The suspension is tailored to rugged surfaces, with a generous spring road of 280 mm in front and 296 mm rear, and a ground clearance of 300 mm. The tires are equipped with coarse cams for optimum grip on a separate surface, while the fully switched ABS offers extra control in challenging circumstances.

The DR-Z4SM, on the other hand, is optimized for sporting street use and the Supermotard circuit. With 17-inch wheels, a lower seat height and a more forward-facing vision, he offers an aggressive riding position that invites dynamic steering.

The suspension is shorter and tighter, with a spring road of 260 mm in front and 277 mm behind, and a ground freedom of 260 mm. The Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires have been specially developed for this model and ensure maximum grip and maneuverability on asphalt, even under wet conditions. The DR-Z4SM has a distinct sporting character, where the ABS on the rear brake is switched off for extra control in sharp turns and fast accelerations.

Both models are powered by a completely newly developed 398cc liquid -cooled DOHC single -cylinder. According to Suzuki, the block is designed with a view to an optimal balance between performance and verifiability. Thanks to, among other things, double spark plugs, a 10-hole injector and Suzuki’s Ride-by-Wire technology, the engine delivers a linear gas response and meets the strict Euro 5+emission standard.

With a capacity of 238 hp at 8,000 rpm and a torque of 37 Nm by 6,500 rpm, the block offers powerful performance, both on the road and in the site. Lightweight titanium inlet valves and hollow, with sodium -filled exhaust valves contribute to efficient combustion and a lively character. New piston and carter designs also ensure 20% less mechanical losses.

The DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are equipped with the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), which includes 3 riding modes (SDMS), 3 positions traction control (STCS) including a special G-mode for off-road use, and two Abs and especially for the DR-ZIJ. A slipper clutch, Suzuki Easy Start and fully adjustable suspension are also part of the standard equipment.

In addition to Solid Iron Gray (Yud), the DR-Z4S is available in the color Champion Yellow & Solid Special White (C1C). This striking color scheme refers to the rich history of Suzuki’s DR-Z desert racers and forms a tribute to Suzuki’s iconic motocross models. The DR-Z4SM is also available in two colors, Solid Special White (30h) and Sky Gray (Q1T). Sky Gray has been developed especially for the DR-Z4SM that combines robustness with a modern, urban look. The blue -gray character emphasizes the improvements in performance and quality.

So far the good news. It is also TOP that both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM are supplied as standard with a 6-year warranty and 6-year breakdown assistance, but now it comes: for both models there must be a lot deep in the pouch: the consumer price for both models is no less than € 9,999, and that is, to say the least, quite pricey for an ‘A2 bicycle’. The motorcycles are expected in mid-September at the Suzuki dealer, before that time you have already been able to read on this channel how it drives.
