Suzuki has the sweet Toyota taste. Later this year, the brand will park its own version of the Toyota RAV4 in Dutch showrooms with the Across and this Swace will be added at the beginning of next year. The Swace is in fact nothing more than a Toyota Corolla Touring Sports!
The love affair between Toyota and Suzuki is being taken to a new level today. Recently, with the Across, Suzuki introduced a Toyota RAV4 with its own Suzuki muzzle, and now the brand applies a similar trick to the Corolla Touring Sports. This is the Suzuki Swace, a new model that will be available at Dutch dealers in early 2021.
The Swace is in fact nothing more than a Corolla Touring Sports on which Suzuki has screwed a slightly different front. The Swace has a front bumper that differs from the Corolla and the grille is also slightly different than you are used to from the Toyota version. The part between the headlights is completely separated from the grille in the bumper on the Swace by a continuous piece of plastic. Of course we come across on both the muzzle and the rear of the Swace logo marks of Suzuki. The interior – except for the logo on the steering wheel – has also been taken over one on one from the Corolla.

Hybrid
The Suzuki Across presented this year only comes to our country with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, and with that there is less to choose from in terms of engine than with its twin brother from Toyota, the RAV4. On the engine list of the Swace, Suzuki also includes only one power source: the 122 hp 1.8 Hybrid powertrain, which is made up of a 98 hp 1.8 four-cylinder petrol engine and a 72 hp electric motor. The non-hybrid 1.2 Turbo and the more powerful 2.0 Hybrid powertrain thus ignore the modified nose of the Swace. The average consumption of the Suzuki Swace is 4.5 l / 100 km.
The Swace is also fully Corolla Touring Sports, which means that the car is built on Toyota’s GA-C platform, a foundation developed according to Toyota’s TNGA philosophy. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 596 liters and, as with the Corolla Touring Sports, the wheelbase is 2.7 meters.
Equipment
With regard to safety systems, the Swace also benefits from Toyota’s knowledge and expertise. All systems that Toyota has included in its Safety Sense package are therefore also available on the Swace. The Suzuki Swace has Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Assist, Road Sign Assist, and Lane Tracing Assist as standard. From the higher-placed Style version, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Simple-Intelligent Parking Assist are also available. This Style version also features bi-LED headlights, front seat heating, a heated steering wheel and an inductive charger. The standard version is also nice in its stuff. For example, regular LED headlights, 16-inch light alloy, climate control and an 8-inch screen that comes with the infotainment system are standard.
