Synology introduces reliable hard drives for home and office with the HDD Plus series. These must meet the reliability, endurance, and performance requirements of 24/7 storage in Synology’s entry-level and mainstream systems.
Synology is best known for its many NASs, such as the Synology DiskStation DS723+ with 2 bays. However, Synology has many more products, such as cameras like the BC500 and TC500, and also hard drives for large companies with the Enterprise series. Now Synology introduces Plus series SATA hard drives for home users and small offices. These should provide reliability and convenience for storage needs, whether for file sharing, data backup or surveillance recording.
Key features of Synology Plus series HDDs are:
• Reliable uninterrupted operation: with a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 1 million hours[2] and a workload of up to 180 TB per year[3] these CMR drives offer three times the endurance compared to conventional desktop hard drives
• Tested for maximum reliability: More than 300,000 hours of rigorous compatibility and load testing ensures trouble-free operation, even with multi-user workloads
• Effortless firmware updates: Users can update drives directly from Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), eliminating the need to remove drives and perform manual updates
• One-Stop Support: Customers can approach Synology directly through their Synology Account for technical support and returns processing
• Four different capacities: The Plus Series HDDs are offered in 4 TB, 6 TB, 8 TB and 12 TB models, making them suitable for a variety of storage needs and budgets.

Nuts
1. See compatibility list for supported storage systems.
2. Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is not an estimate or guarantee of product life. It is a statistic to express the average failure rates for a large number of products and may not accurately reflect the performance of an individual product. The actual life of the product may differ from the MTBF.
3. Workload is defined as the amount of data written, read, or controlled by commands from a host system.
4. “3.5” describes the form factor of HDDs. It does not refer to the physical size of the disks.
5. Capacity definition: When describing the capacity of hard drives, a terabyte (TB) is defined as 1,000,000,000,000 bytes. In contrast, a computer operating system reports storage capacity by powers of 2, resulting in a definition of 1 GB = 2 raised to the power of 30 = 1,073,741,824 bytes. This means that operating systems will report lower available storage capacity. Available storage capacity also varies depending on file size, format, settings, software and operating system. Actual formatted capacity may vary.
