Take sharp photo with smartphone

Taking a quick photo with the smartphone also quickly produces a blurry photo. With these tips you will get a sharp photo that you will enjoy.

Every smartphone has a camera, and many devices even have two. One at the back and one or more at the front. The one in the front is for taking selfies, aka photos of yourself. The rear camera is usually the best. This camera produces beautiful images that you can even print.

Phone cameras are technically very good, but they also have limitations. For example, zooming in strongly makes the sharpness of the photo a lot less. Zooming in is not done with a special lens, but via the software. That always results in a loss of quality. So try to zoom in as little as possible. It’s better to just move a little closer to the photo subject. You can later crop the photo with an image editing program.

When taking photos with a smartphone, just like with a real photo camera, it is important that you focus well on the subject of the photo. Focusing with the smartphone is not complicated: hold the phone as still as possible and tap the screen on the point where you want to focus. The phone’s camera now focuses itself. You will also see this happening on the screen. Still holding the phone as still as possible, tap the button that lets you take photos.

Holding the phone still can sometimes be a little tricky, especially if you’re holding the device with one hand because you have to use the other hand to tap the print button. That’s why some Android phones use voice control. So you can take a photo by saying something (‘smile’, cheese’, ‘shoot’) to the camera. The advantage is that you can hold the phone with both hands, making it easier to hold the phone still.

To enable voice control on the Samsung Galaxy S5 and later models:

  • Tap on Camera to open the app.
  • Tap a gear icon to open the camera settings.
  • Tap on voice command to turn the function on.

Another way to take a photo is not necessarily obvious, but can offer a solution if it is difficult for you to press the print button on the screen. For example, if you are bent over, leaning on one hand, or otherwise making a difficult angle:

  • Tap on Camera to open the app.
  • Point the camera at the desired subject.
  • Press on the button Volume up to print.
  • This button is usually the top volume button when you hold the phone in your hand normally.
