Tesla launches ‘Track Package’ for Model S Plaid

Tesla launches a ‘Track Package’ for the Tesla Model S Plaid. It includes special brakes, wheels and tires, but above all unlocks a very high top speed.

The Track Package is specifically intended for the Tesla Model S Plaid, the lightning-fast version that actually leaves every other car behind in terms of sprint times. Anyone who wants to get the most out of such a Plaid in addition to the straight line, will soon be able to check the Track Package in the Tesla Shop. Then you get special ceramic (!) brake discs all around, different calipers, special brake fluid and 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Supercar 3R tires. Funnily enough, those wheels are a size smaller than the normally optional ‘Arachnid’ copies, but do offer space for those brakes. They are welcome, by the way, because a Plaid simply gets the brakes of the slightly less fast ‘standard’ Model S as standard.

According to Tesla, those who only want the brakes and leave the rest in place will soon be able to opt for that. With ‘soon’ we mean June, because then Tesla will definitively attach a price and an order option to the option. That price will be somewhere between €13,825 and €18,435, we already know. A whole lot of money, but apart from the things mentioned you also get a software update. It brings what is perhaps the most striking part of this package: a much higher top speed. Where a Model S Plaid normally stops accelerating at 250 km/h, the version with this Track Package blasts through to no less than 322 km/h. To our knowledge, this makes it the fastest EV you can buy after hypercars such as Rimac’s, although the Maserati Granturismo Folgore is close behind at 320 km/h.

Tesla Model S

Speaking of the Tesla Model S: if you buy one now, you will receive 3 years of free Supercharging. This also applies to the Tesla Model X. Let’s immediately take a look at the current prices for both models, because things change quite often at Tesla in that area. A Model S is available without delivery costs from €107,490 for a ‘Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive’. The Model S Plaid costs a minimum of €132,490. Tesla also distinguishes between these two versions with the Model X, which cost €116,490 and €136,490 respectively. For the prices with delivery costs, add €1,003 to all these amounts. The Yoke steering wheel is now an option with an additional cost and therefore seems to be facing a nice and exclusive future. If you want it, pay an extra €250.
