The Tesla Model 3 has secured a special place in the sales figures of the United Kingdom. Only one car sold better across the Channel last year: the Vauxhall Corsa.
We don’t always pay much attention to the sales figures in the countries around us, but something noteworthy happened in the United Kingdom last year. There, the Tesla Model 3, with more than 34,000 copies sold, finished in second place in the sales figures. This is according to figures from the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders). Never before has an all-electric car finished so high in UK sales. Incidentally, the Tesla Model 3 finished in 42nd place in the Netherlands in the sales figures of 2021. Quite a difference.
The Model 3 only had to tolerate the Vauxhall Corsa with more than 40,000 copies sold in the UK. Incidentally, there was also good news for Volkswagen: for the first time, Volkswagen was the best-selling brand over a whole year (by a distance). Audi followed in second place (117,953 cars), with BMW in third place (116,577 cars).
