The Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are thousands of euros cheaper in one fell swoop. That is good news for those who would like to buy or lease a Tesla with a SEPP purchase subsidy. The Tesla Model 3 is now eligible for that!

Tesla is lowering the prices of the Model 3 and Model Y across the board by thousands of euros. Until recently, the Tesla Model 3 was in the order books from €51,990, but has an immediate starting price of €44,990. That means that its starting price has been reduced by no less than €7,000.

The Tesla Model Y will also become less expensive. The Tesla Model Y previously had a starting price of €49,990 and now costs €46,990. Tesla has therefore snatched €3,000 from the starting price of the Model Y. Striking: the larger amount by which Tesla reduces the starting price of the Model 3 makes that car less expensive than the Tesla Model Y, while the reverse was the case until recently.

The price reduction is extra good news for those who would like to buy or lease a Tesla with a SEPP purchase subsidy. That is possible from now on. The fiscal price of the Tesla Model 3 is below €45,000. Even after the price reduction, the Tesla Model Y just does not qualify for the purchase subsidy.

Why Tesla is lowering prices? No doubt to ensure that the Model 3 and Model Y qualify for the €2,950 purchase subsidy for new electric cars. However, according to Tesla, it also sees a normalization of part of inflation and says it has further optimized its production processes, which would allow the price reduction. The fact that Tesla is lowering the prices of the Model 3 and Model Y throughout Europe and the Middle East seems to support this motivation.
