The best comedy series on Prime Video

Want or need to spend some relaxed time in front of your television? If you are (or not, for that matter) a Prime Video subscriber, here’s some good news: we have selected the ten best comedy series from Amazon’s streaming platform for you!

When we talk about comedy series, we are of course first talking about sitcoms. But many shows like to mix genres. This is why in our selection below, you will find series where it is not uncommon to also find significant drama or action. Fortunately, this doesn’t stop them from making you laugh and you shouldn’t regret your investment of time. Also note that only series offered within the central Prime Video catalog are present: exit those from additional subscriptions such as the Warner Pass or Adult Swim.

And if you’re also in the mood for pure drama or genres other than comedy, head to our largest selection of the best series on Prime Video!

Summary

Fleabag

Fleabag

A series that revealed the very talented and funny Phoebe Waller-Bridge to the general public, Fleabag is an absolute gem. During two too short seasons, it is a question of following the complicated daily life of an average young woman, alternating explosions of laughter and strong depressions. If you like good casting and when a character breaks the fourth wall, go for it without hesitation.

Shameless

With 11 seasons, the American version of Shameless should keep you busy for a while if you are attached to its large and dysfunctional family. Its long, event-filled episodes are sometimes absurd, but always intense and relatable to the poverty and hardships its characters encounter on the South Side of Chicago.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 8.5/10

Jury Duty

The most recent novelty in this selection, Jury Duty is above all funny thanks to its concept. Ronald is a juror in a trial…except everything from the case to the other jurors to the judge to the lawyers are…fake. And he is obviously the only one who ignores it. A delicious reality TV show that can be watched on its own. And if you’re looking for even more direct reality TV, head to LOL, who laughs comes out! and its stars who must not laugh.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 8.3/10

Peacemaker

Okay, seriously, when is Peacemaker season 2? It’s almost two years since James Gunn proposed this DC series derived from his film The Suicide Squad. Centered on the eponymous character played by John Cena, it is not short on stupidity (in the good sense of the word), violence and surprises. If you liked The Boys, you can go there.

The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel

Ended after five seasons and awarded several times, The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel is probably one of the most popular series on Prime Video. And it’s not for nothing, as the show led by Rachel Brosnahan brilliantly mixes comedy and drama against a backdrop of stand-up and feminism in the 50s.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 8.7/10

The Big Bang Theory

Is it really useful to present the most popular sitcom in the world behind Friends, namely The Big Bang Theory? If you have already watched its 12 seasons several times, note that its spin-off series Young Sheldon is also in the Prime Video catalog.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 8.2/10

The Office

Correction. Is The Office the most popular sitcom in the world? Difficult to say in the end. Anyway, if the almost constant embarrassment generated by these office staff doesn’t put you off, its nine seasons are on Prime Video.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 9/10

Upload

Currently consisting of three seasons, Upload is not only very enjoyable, but should also appeal to technology enthusiasts. This dramatic comedy is in fact based on the possibility that in the future it will be possible to upload one’s consciousness to a virtual paradise when dying.

⭐ Its IMdB rating: 7.9/10

The Boys

The Boys is certainly on the podium of the most popular series on Prime Video across all genres. And if you’ve already seen the show (season 4 is coming soon!) and its spinoffs (Gen V and Les Diaboliques), head to the animated series Invincible and the super heroic parody The Tick.

With its subscription price always (a little) more attractive than the others, Prime Video is a very interesting SVoD solution. If it still lacks a few additional flagship series to be able to be fully compared to Netflix, the platform offers a varied and rich enough catalog to keep you busy for a while. It also stands out with its X-Ray functionality and excellent video quality which can help forgive a few bugs here and there.
