The Grain of Salt: Iconic iPhone Feature Disappears (and More)

If there are usually a lot of rumors about one company, it is Apple. Whether it’s about the next iPhone, new MacBook or products of the future: the corridors are richly filled with new information. Likewise for the past few weeks.

Those weeks were through Far Outevent pretty quiet on One More Thing. We did see the rumors, but we didn’t do much with it because of the many official information. The latest edition of The Grain of Salt so it was a while ago. That’s why we list five of the biggest rumors of recent times for you.

#1 Iconic iPhone feature disappears for good

At the beginning of this week, the message came out that an iconic iPhone functionality is going to disappear. In the weekly Power On-newsletter told Bloomberg-journalist Mark Gurman that. According to its sources, Apple is abandoning Touch ID and Face ID is becoming the standard for even more consumers.

This year, Apple sold the iPhone SE (2022) that had the functionality. With this message, therefore, the redesign of that phone also seems to be addressed. Only consumers with older models will therefore still have it. New models are rumored to be completely abandoning the unlock method.

#2 New iPad and Mac models without event

There is a good chance that Apple will show new products in October. The arrival of new iPad and Mac models is almost certain, but how they will be presented is not yet known. In the week of September 26, the message, again from Mark Gurman, came out that Apple has doubts about an event.

It could well be that the American company announces the products in the form of press releases.

#3 iOS 16 function only to your iPhone from 2023

There are plenty of features that came to the iPhone with the launch of iOS 16. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of those. One such functionality is Apple Pay Later. Presented at WWDC 2022, but still not on the market.

That will not change in 2022, however. Mark Gurman expects Apple to postpone the payment method until 2023.

#4 Apple is working on a 27-inch Mini LED display

#5 iPhone 15 goes after Apple Watch Ultra

If we are to believe the rumors, the Pro Max model of the iPhone will disappear. The largest model will probably follow the Apple Watch Ultra next year and get the Ultra name.

However, the question is what exactly this means for the smartphone. Is it just a name change or is there more to it?
