According to rumors, Apple will release a very thin iPhone in 2025. But how much thinner will this iPhone 17 Air be compared to the current generation?
The iPhone 17 Air is so much thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro
In 2025, Apple will release a new iPhone that is extra thin. This iPhone 17 Air appears next to the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air will be about two millimeters thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro.
The iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25 millimeters thick. So if the iPhone 17 Air becomes 2 millimeters thinner, that would be 6.25 millimeters. The iPhone 17 Air will therefore be the thinnest iPhone ever.

New 5G chip
The iPhone 17 Air also gets a new 5G chip made by Apple. This chip is a lot smaller than that of Qualcomm (the maker of the chips in the current iPhones). According to Gurman, Apple has now made this chip itself to save more space, without sacrificing the battery, camera or screen.
The iPhone 17 Air will be one of three devices that will receive this new Apple chip. The other two devices are the iPhone SE and the next version of budget iPad. If Apple continues to improve this chip (and other components), this could open the door to a new smartphone design in the future. Then a foldable iPhone could finally be an option.
All-in-one chip
Perhaps Apple will develop an all-in-one chip in the future. It contains the processor, modem, WiFi chip and other components. This also means that there is more room for other components.
