Apple is working on an iPhone Fold
There have been suspicions for some time that Apple is working on a device with a foldable screen. According to new rumors, Apple has now requested test versions of bendable screens from Samsung and LG, making it certain that Apple is working on a foldable device. These are screens between 7 and 8 inches, but it is not yet clear for which device the displays are intended.

Previous rumors have predicted that we will see a foldable iPhone or MacBook first. A screen between 7 and 8 inches is probably too small for a MacBook, so it is quite possible that the displays are for a foldable iPhone. When you open the device, the device turns into an iPad. Unfortunately, the iPhone Fold will likely mean the end of another Apple product.
iPad mini disappears
The foldable iPhone can therefore change into an iPad when the device is opened. Apple reportedly plans to discontinue the iPad mini after the release of the iPhone Fold. The iPad mini has an 8.3-inch display, which is comparable to the screen of the iPhone Fold. According to rumors, the iPad mini will therefore be redundant once the foldable iPhone is released.
That means we may see the last iPad mini this year. It has been a while since Apple released the iPad mini 6, because the tablet was released in 2021. The device then received a completely new design with Touch ID. Apple is expected to release the iPad mini 7 this year, which will probably be released in October. After that, according to rumors, Apple will switch to the iPhone Fold.
This is when the foldable iPhone comes
It will take some time before Apple presents the iPhone Fold, the release is reportedly not until 2026 or 2027. Apple is in no hurry to release a foldable product, as it first looks at problems that other companies have with foldable devices. For example, Samsung has had the Samsung Galaxy Foldbut that release was not without problems.

Apple has often waited before releasing a product to learn from the competition’s problems. Apple is now doing the same with the iPhone Fold, so we can only expect the phone in a few years. Of course, a lot can still change by then, so Apple may continue with the iPad mini. In any case, one thing is certain: Apple is working on a foldable device.
