While we’ve been writing a lot about an October event with new Macs and iPads in recent weeks, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. According to a new rumor, Apple will announce the new products through a series of press releases.
No Apple event in October according to Gurman
After the launch of the iPhone 14, new Apple Watches and the new AirPods Pro 2 at the Apple event in early September, we were firmly convinced that another Apple event had to come in October this year. Now Mark Gurman, a trusted Apple analyst at Bloomberg, says that sadly won’t be the case.
New Macs and iPads are coming through a series of press releases, Gurman said. We can also expect an information day for the press. According to this rumor, a major public Apple event in October will not be forthcoming.
What products will Apple announce in October?
According to Gurman, Apple will not announce the remaining products for 2022 via an October event, but via press releases on the official website. In Gurman’s famous Power on newsletter you can read that we’re getting a new iPad Pro, a new Mac mini, and a 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
These all get the brand new M2 chip, which we first saw in the new MacBook Air in June 2022. The Mac mini from this future lineup would even get an M2 Pro chip. The expectations are that, except for this chip, the Macs and iPads will not see many more innovations. According to Gurman, it is therefore too little to hold an Apple event in October.
So how does Apple announce new Macs and iPads?
So you should keep a close eye on iPhoned and the Apple website for the latest news about these products. A few years ago, Apple even announced fairly large products through press releases. For example, the first messages of the AirPods Max and the first AirPods Pro have been sent to the world via press releases.
However, we are almost certain that new products are still to come. Although Apple itself will not host an October event, we know through other means that new products will still appear. The delay in the release of macOS 13 Ventura and iPadOS 16 also points to new Apple products. However, this could also be due to issues surrounding the new Stage Manager feature.
