Do you want your data, photos and other files to remain safe on your iPhone? Then adjust these three iPhone functions for your own safety!
iPhone functions for safety
Apple regularly adds new functions to the iPhone. These are often intended to improve the protection of the device. That is also necessary, because almost all important files, photos, videos and (private) things are nowadays on the iPhone. Do you want to ensure that the safety of the iPhone remains in order? Then adjust these important functions with the settings of your iPhone!
1. Private passage at iCloud
Do you have a paid subscription to iCloud? In that case you will get more security functions as standard. One of these is ‘private passage in iCloud’, which better protects your surfing behavior in Safari. With this function you can connect to the internet in a safer way. Private passage hides your IP address and surfing behavior in Safari and protects your ungivowered internet traffic.
It is advisable to switch on private passage in iCloud, so that you know for sure that your internet traffic is well protected. With this advanced institution, no one can see who you are and which sites you visit, not even Apple. Private passage is available as standard with a paid subscription to iCloud, but you have to switch on the function yourself on the iPhone to improve safety. You do that as follows:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone;
- Tap the name of your Apple account;
- Go to ‘iCloud’;
- Under ‘Functions of iCloud+’, choose ‘Private passage’;
- Turn the switch after ‘private passage’.

2. Two-factor authentication
The most important account on your iPhone is without a doubt your Apple account. With this account you log in to all your Apple devices and you get access to all your personal information. It is therefore advisable to secure your Apple account well, so that others do not just have access to all your information. To prevent that, it is possible to secure your Apple account with two-factor authentication, one of the easiest functions to improve the safety of your iPhone.
With this function you have to enter an extra six-digit code when logging in to your Apple account. This code appears on trusted devices or you get inside via your telephone number. You switch on this function on your iPhone under ‘Settings> Apple Account> Log in and Security> Two-Factor Authentication’. Choose which devices or numbers you want to verify for two -step verification. This way you add a layer of security to your Apple account, so that you are sure that your Apple account and therefore your iPhone is well protected.

3. Switch off tracking
Do you have many different applications on your iPhone? Then there is a good chance that more information will be collected from you than you know. To prevent that, Apple has added a handy function to the settings of your iPhone, which you have to switch off. To do this, go to ‘Settings> Privacy and Security> Tracking’ and turn off the switch behind ‘Stand Apps’ Tracking requests’. For example, tracking requests from all applications are automatically rejected.
Do you give permission to track your activity? Applications can then collect information about you and your device. These are data if your name, e-mail address, user ID or the ID of your device. With this information your digital identity is built up, so that applications can show targeted advertisements. Developers can also choose to share this data with data dealers. Turning off tracking is therefore one of the most important ways to improve safety on your iPhone.
