It is expected that Apple will release no fewer than three new Apple Watches this year. The Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 2025 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 appear in 2025. 1. Blood pressure monitor
According to the usually reliable Apple connoisseur Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch will get a blood pressure monitor for the first time in 2025. This does not give precise measurements at the Apple Watch Ultra 3, but sends notifications if the blood pressure becomes too high. With this feature, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 must ensure that hypertension (too high blood pressure) is discovered. This allows the Apple Watch to save lives again, because too high blood pressure often remains unnoticed.
2. Display
At the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple made major changes to the screen last year. In 2025 we will probably see the same features reflected at the Display of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. That means that the smartwatch gets an Always-on LTPO 3 OLED-War angle screen. This type of display refreshes every second, so that new dials also display the second guide in the Always-on mode. Due to the wider viewing angle, the screen is also more readable.
3. Processor
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is still running on the S9 chip, but that processor is now outdated. With the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple already introduced the S10 chip, which means that the Apple Watch Ultra does not have the newest chip at the moment. That will change with the Apple Watch Ultra 3, that device is probably running on the completely new S11 chip. This is mainly more energy efficient than the processor in the current Apple Watches.
4. Satellite connection
Where the iPhones have had satellite connection for years, the Apple Watch is still limited to the local or mobile connection. From the Apple Watch Ultra 3 that is no longer the case, because Gurman expects the smartwatch to be expanded with satellite connection. With this connection it is always possible to send messages, even if you do not have a mobile range. The Apple Watch Ultra is primarily intended for fanatic (outside) athletes, so the satellite connection is a big advantage for the smartwatch. From now on they can leave the iPhone at home.
5. 5G connection
The satellite connection is not the only improvement in the connectivity of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. Apple brings 5G to the smartwatch for the first time. The current Apple Watches have support for 4G LTE, while the iPhone has been working with 5G since 2020. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 becomes Apple’s first smartwatch with 5G, which is probably made possible by a new chip. We will probably see Apple’s new C1 modem or a similar processor at the Apple Watch Ultra in 2025.
6. Housing
The Apple Watch Series 10 has a completely newly designed housing with a back of metal. With the Apple Watch Series 10 there is more room for the wireless charger, so the device charges enormously quickly. The same features come to the Apple Watch Ultra 3, the smartwatch will probably get a metal back. Moreover, charging is much faster, so the Apple Watch Series 10 is charged to eighty percent within thirty minutes. At the Apple Watch Ultra 3 we expect similar loading times.
Release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3
Apple most likely presents the Apple Watch Ultra 3 in September, as well as the Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch SE appear.
