Most Macs will get an M5 chip in 2026 and we may see the first M6 chips by the end of the year – you can expect these Macs!
These Macs are coming in 2026
We expect a new version of virtually every Mac in 2026. We have listed them all for you.
MacBook Air (early 2026)
The MacBook Air is one of the first Macs to receive an update in 2026. It gets the same M5 chip that Apple introduced with the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Cheap MacBook (early 2026)
There will also be a cheap MacBook in early 2026, cheaper than the MacBook Air. This MacBook will have a screen of about 13 inches, so it’s probably slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch MacBook Air. We expect the A18 Pro chip in this MacBook, with 8 GB of RAM and support for Apple Intelligence.
The cheap MacBook gets an LCD screen without mini-LED technology or ProMotion. It may come in bright colors like the iMac. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects the colors Silver, Blue, Pink and Yellow. The cheap MacBook is not a replacement for the MacBook Air, but is added as a new affordable option to the Mac range.

MacBook Pro (early 2026)
Apple has already introduced the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro, but more expensive models with faster M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected around the same time as the MacBook Air and the cheaper MacBook. The M5 Pro and M5 Max have more CPU cores and better GPUs for improved performance. Apple is also likely to add faster SSDs.

Studio Display (early – mid 2026)
Apple hasn’t released a new display since the launch of the Studio Display in 2022. There now appear to be one or two new models in development, which should be on the market in 2026. We expect the same screen size of 27 inches, but with mini LEDs instead of LCD. Mini LED means better HDR, brightness, contrast and colors. The current Studio Display has an A-series chip, the next generation may have the A19 Pro that Apple also uses in the iPhone 17 Pro.

Mac mini (mid-2026)
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, an updated version of the Mac mini will be released sometime in mid-2026. This will have an M5 or M5 Pro chip, but there are no rumors of design changes yet.

Mac Studio (mid-2026)
The Mac Studio will be launched at the same time as the Mac mini. Apple has not released an M4 Ultra chip. So there has never been an M4 Ultra Mac Studio, but there will be an M5 Ultra model. The M5 Max offers much faster CPU and GPU performance than the M5, the M5 Ultra doubles the performance of the M5 Max.

OLED MacBook Pro (end 2026)
Although a refresh of the M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro is planned for early 2026, there is another update in the works. Apple is developing a new OLED MacBook Pro that uses the M6 chip and also has a touchscreen. It is not yet clear whether the device will be launched in late 2026 or early 2027, but 2026 remains a possibility.
If Apple launches the OLED MacBook Pro in 2026, it will be a year with two innovations for the MacBook Pro. Apple has done that before in 2023, but it’s rare. The OLED MacBook Pro may be the first MacBook with 5G connectivity, thanks to Apple’s C2 chip.
Mac Pro (timing unknown)
Apple will also likely release a new Mac Pro, but it’s unclear when. Bloomberg previously said that a Mac Pro would come before the end of 2025 with some kind of M4 chip. That didn’t happen, so it will be 2026 or later. It’s possible that the Mac Pro will get an update with the M5 Ultra chip when the Mac Studio gets it, but that’s not certain.

iMac (timing and status unknown)
The iMac is expected to receive an M5 update in 2026, but this is also not yet clear when exactly. We haven’t heard anything about the iMac in a while, and there are no rumors of design changes or major updates.
