5 ways to share your location with your iPhone

If you are on the road with a large group, for example on vacation, it is always practical to share your location together, so that you will always find everyone again. If everyone has an iPhone and/or Apple Watch, it will be done. We show you 5 ways.

1. Share location on your iPhone

There are different ways to share your location with others. To begin with, there is a difference between your current location and your live location. In the latter case, the recipient also sees which direction you move. You may not always want that, so it is handy that you can also only share your current location. On your iPhone we recommend there Maps to be used. That works as follows:

  1. Open the app cards;

  2. Tap the blue ball;

  3. Tap on the right on the ‘share’ icon;

  4. Choose the app in which you want to share your location.

For example, if you have opted for the Messages app, you will now see your location on a card in a new message. You then send this message to the person with you want to share your location.

2. Share live location on your iPhone

If you want someone to see in real time where you are moving, you can do that via the app contacts. That works like this:

  • Open the contacts app;
  • Open the info of the person concerned;
  • Scroll down and choose ‘Share my location’;
  • Choose 1 of the 3 options in the shortcut menu;

The contact person now receives a notification that you share your location and can see your location in the search my app. If you no longer want to share your location via your iPhone, you simply tap ‘Stop Sharing my location’.

3. Share via search my

It is also possible to share your live location directly from the search my app. That works about the same way:

  • Open the app search my;
  • Tap down on ‘people’;
  • Tap ‘Start with parts of location’;
  • Find the desired person and tap ‘Send’;
  • Choose the desired duration.

Even now your contact person will receive a notification and he or she can follow your location live.

Via WhatsApp on your iPhone you can also share where you are. You then have the choice whether you share your current location or your live location. This works as follows:

  • Open WhatsApp and the desired conversation;

If you do not use WhatsApp but for example Telegram or Signal, you also have the option to share your location via your iPhone. That works almost in the same way.

5. Share via your Apple Watch

Sharing your location is not only possible via your iPhone, but also via your Apple Watch. You use the ‘search people’ app for that. Your contact person will also receive a request to share his or her location. However, it is not necessary for the person to accept that request to see your location.
