1. Share lyrics from Spotify

We start these iPhone tips with a tip for Spotify that we published in week 13. For most songs, you have the option to view the lyrics in Spotify on your iPhone. Nowadays it is also possible to share part of a song’s lyrics directly on social media. This is how you do it:

  1. Open the Spotify app and play the song you want;

  2. Tap the music player at the bottom;

  3. Tap ‘Lyrics’ at the bottom and then tap the Share icon;

  4. Select the lines you want to share (max. 5) and tap ‘Continue’;

  5. Tap the social media app of your choice.

On Facebook and Instagram you can only share the lyrics in a story. If you don’t want that, you can first take a screenshot of the preview and then share it.

2. Turn off the control panel on the Lockscreen

Number 2 of these iPhone tips is about security and we published it in week 2. When you have locked the iPhone, you would think that there is not much anyone can do with your device. But it is still possible to open the Control Center and use (or disable) several functions of your iPhone. That’s why we’ll show you how to disable the Control Center on the Lockscreen. You do this as follows:

  • Open the Settings app;
  • Tap ‘Face ID & Passcode’ (or ‘Touch ID & Passcode’) and enter your code;
  • Scroll down to the title ‘Access on Lock’;
  • Disable the ‘Control Panel’ option.

Of course, someone can see much more on your Lockscreen. This allows them to view missed calls, read messages in the notification center and use Siri, among other things. Fortunately, you can easily disable all of these options in the same place where you turned off the Control Center.

3. Disallow tracking requests from apps

Number 3 is simply useful and comes from the iPhone tips of week 17. You have probably experienced that after installing a new app, you are asked whether the app can track you. So you can answer ‘no’ every time, but it is also possible to ensure that you are no longer asked that question at all. You do this as follows:

  • Open the Settings app;
  • Scroll down and tap ‘Privacy & Security’;
  • Tap ‘Tracking’;
  • Turn off the ‘Allow tracking requests from apps’ option.

4. LED flashes when you receive a notification

Number 4 of these iPhone tips is from week 35 and is for anyone who regularly does not hear a notification coming in. If you experience this often, you can set the LED light to flash when you receive a call or notification. If you don’t hear the sound, you may see the LED light. This is how you set it up:

  • Open the Settings app;
  • Scroll down a bit and tap ‘Accessibility’;
  • Tap ‘Audio & Visual’;
  • Scroll down and tap ‘LED flash on notification’;
  • Enable the ‘LED flash on notification’ option.

5. A Focus for an undisturbed night’s sleep

The last of these iPhone tips was published in week 30 and will help you get a good night’s sleep. Do you have a friend who happily sends all kinds of unimportant texts in the middle of the night? Then you can temporarily mute his chat and all group chats he is in. But creating a Focus works much better. You do this as follows:

  • Open the Settings app and tap ‘Focus’;
  • Tap the plus sign at the top right, then tap Sleep;
  • Tap ‘Adjust focus’ then ‘People’;
  • Tap ‘Add’ and select the contacts who are allowed to disturb you;
  • Tap Done.

You can also choose to only mute notifications from specific people. In that case, choose ‘Silence notifications from’.

All you have to do is enter from what time until what time the Focus should be active. This is what you do in the Health app:

  • Open the Health app and tap ‘Sleep’;
  • Scroll down and tap ‘Full schedule and options’;
  • Make sure ‘Sleep schedule’ and ‘Use schedule for sleep focus’ are enabled;
  • Enter the start and end time under ‘Complete schedule’.

Extra tip for these iPhone tips: You can always start a Focus that has been created manually. To do this, open the Control Center (swipe down from the top right of your screen) and tap ‘Focus’. In the list that appears, tap the Focus you want to enable.
