At the IAA in Munich, Renault Mobilize put forward, a new brand that will not be involved in car sales, but with all kinds of mobility solutions. These are the plans of that new branch.

We have been familiar with Mobilize this whole year. In January, it presented itself and the EZ-1, a concept forerunner for an electric city car that is of course very suitable for all kinds of car sharing. The production version of the EZ-1, the Duo, was on display in Munich. As expected, it concerns an electric car that is specifically intended for car-sharing programs in large cities. This is apparent from, among other things, the easy access with an app. The ‘green’ part of the car goes further than just the electric powertrain, because the Duo is also made of 50 percent recycled material. As the name implies, the Twizy-like EV is a two-seater.

Orderers

The Duo also has a delivery brother, the Bento. The Bento mainly differs from the Duo by the ‘box’ on the back, which makes it look somewhat like a tiny truck. The box has a total volume of a maximum of 1 cubic meter. The Bento is intended for the transport of (small) goods in – of course – an urban environment.

Mobilize Hippo

The Mobilize Hippo is also a company car, but considerably larger. This orderer is intended for last-mile delivery, the delivery of goods in cities that are increasingly equipped with an environmental zone and/or entry bans for trucks.

limo

We have already seen how wide the Mobilize range is with the Mobilize Limo. The sedan borrowed from China is specifically intended for all forms of taxi rides, so with a driver. Like the other Mobilize products, the Limo is not for sale, but can be used at attractive rates – according to Mobilize. In doing so, we try to take as many worries out of the hands of users as possible and it should be easy to share the Limo with multiple drivers. This means that the fully electric car can always be working, even if this does not apply to its individual drivers. The Limo is also coming to Europe, just like its smaller brothers of course.

Nice on the way

The arrival of Mobilize also means that Renault will offer a number of existing services under a new name. For example, the existing car-sharing service Zity will be renamed Zity by Mobilize, with which the company suddenly has 1,250 electric cars (Zoe’s) and 430,000 customers. Renault’s rental division Renault Mobility will become ‘Mobilize Share’ and will continue to use the same wide range of Renault models. Renault Mobility is also well underway, with 15,000 vehicles and more than one million customers. The last ‘rebranding branch’ is Elexent, which will become ‘Mobilize Power Solutions’. Indeed: Mobilize will also offer charging solutions and, thanks to this strategy, it will be present in 11 European countries in one fell swoop.

Mobilize Bento

It should be clear: everything at Renault that has to do with mobility solutions or green infrastructure is grouped under Mobilize. The mobility solutions in particular have been put forward for years by all kinds of manufacturers as an important part of the future of car mobility, so who knows, Mobilize may become very big.
