Do you want to buy an iPad with an M chip? Then you have a wide choice nowadays. That is why we have listed all iPads with an M chip for you!
These iPads all have an M chip or better
The M chips are the fastest chips that Apple has made so far. The M4 chip is at the top of the performance list. So if you buy a new iPad, you have a good chance that it will be an M-chip. But which iPads have an M1 chip or better? That cannot be seen from the outside. We have put the iPads under each other with an M chip.
iPad with an M1 chip
- iPad Air 2022 (fifth generation) (€ 549)
- iPad Pro 2021 (fifth generation) (€ 1,091)
iPad with an M2 chip
- iPad Air 2024 (sixth generation) (€ 669)
- iPad Pro 2022 (sixth generation) (€ 1,004.58)
iPad with an M4 chip
- iPad Pro 2024 (seventh generation) (€ 1,004.58)
As you can see, no regular iPad or iPad Mini has an M chip. And we don’t expect it to happen in the future either. There is also no iPad with an M3 chip at the moment, but that might change in the next iPad Air.
So do you want an iPad with an M chip? Then you are currently dependent on an iPad Air 2022 (or newer) or an iPad Pro 2021 (or newer).
These are the benefits of an M chip
But what is the advantage of an M chip if you compare it with older chips such as the A12? The most important difference is that the M chips are faster (if you compare them with the same generation A-chips) and they get support from Apple for iPados.
In addition, all M-Chips have an internship manager on board. This allows you to adjust the size of windows to your preferences, view several overlapping windows in one view, tapping to switch between apps, and so on.
The M chips also have better support for an external screen. Older versions can only ‘mirror’ the image, and you can see exactly the same on the second screen as on your iPad. With an M-chip you can really use a second screen as an external screen.
